“Life will break you.
Nobody can protect you from that,
and living alone won't either,
for solitude will also break you with its yearning.
You have to love.
You have to feel.
It is the reason you are here on earth.
You are here to risk your heart.
You are here to be swallowed up.
And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness.
Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”

Satya

Is it true?
Is it necessary?
Is it kind?

These three short but very powerful questions have been attributed to Socrates, Sufi, Buddha and different people who all believe in enlightenment.

Three very useful reminders when we communicate with others.
And three questions you can ask yourself when you speak about other people and most importantly when you speak about yourself.

I believe that the words we use about ourselves are like written affirmations – they confirm what we believe about ourselves – and give permission to other people to treat us in the way we describe.

Satya – Commitment to Truthfulness
In the Yoga Sutra (Chapter II, verse 30), Patanjali presents to yoga students the concept of satya (truth)
Read more about the yogic practice of satya (truth) in Yoga Journal here.

Satya means "to speak the truth," yet it is not always desirable to speak the truth on all occasions, for it could harm someone unnecessarily.
We have to consider what we say, how we say it, and in what way it could affect others.
If speaking the truth has negative consequences for another, then it is better to say nothing.

I´m preparing for six days study of  Zen Coaching, which, also includes the teachings of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), developed by Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D.
So far it`s been a great support for deepening my practice and understanding of satya on and of the mat.

To speak from satya is to bring out the very best in others and in ourselves.
Both on and off the mat.
When we speak from a place of awareness , we are creating the universe we want to be in for the rest of our lives.

Looking for your face

From the beginning of my life
I have been looking for your face
but today I have seen it

Today I have seen
the charm, the beauty,
the unfathomable grace
of the face
that I was looking for

Today I have found you
and those who laughed
and scorned me yesterday
are sorry that they were not looking
as I did

I am bewildered by the magnificence
of your beauty
and wish to see you
with a hundred eyes

My heart has burned with passion
and has searched forever
for this wondrous beauty
that I now behold

I am ashamed
to call this love human
and afraid of God
to call it divine

Your fragrant breath
like the morning breeze
has come to the stillness of the garden
You have breathed new life into me
I have become your sunshine
and also your shadow

My soul is screaming in ecstasy
Every fiber of my being
is in love with you

Your effulgence
has lit a fire in my heart
for me
the earth and sky

My arrow of love
has arrived at the target
I am in the house of mercy
and my heart
is a place of prayer

Trust.

Have faith in the future.
Rely om the Universe.
Have faith in yourself.
Sounds like a good reciepe not only for the week but for life.
Trust is strength.

t r u s t
In swedish and norwegian language, trust is actually written the same way in both directions t i l l i t
It may be symbolic of what trust stands for, because trust needs to exist on both sides.
A relationship filled with trust are a healthy realtionship there trust goes both ways and there 2 people contribute to that trust is a part of the relationship.

To be strong is to understand weakness.
To be weak is to have fears.
To have fears is to have something precious to you.
To have something precious to you is to be strong.

It happens all the time in Heaven

It happens all the time in Heaven,
And some day
It will begin to happen
Again on earth --
That men and women who are married,
And men and men who are
Lovers,
And women and women
Who give each other
Light
Often will get down on their knees
And while so tenderly
Holding their lover's hand,
With tears in their eyes,
Will sincerely speak, saying,
"My dear,
How can I be more loving to you;
How can I be more
Kind?"

Freedom doesn’t mean the absence of all restrictions. It means possessing unshakable conviction in the face of any obstacle. This is true freedom.

--
Daisaku Ikeda

As I wrote in my earlier post about commitment it`s all about dedication.
It requires your dedication not just once, but over and over again.
Commitment is a consious choice to achieve something deeper.
Some qualities and flavours of commitment are will, discipline and responsibility.
The challenge is struggle, friction.
Different flavours.
You really get to explore your tastebuds.
And the result or gift is freedom.

Commitment doesen´t need to be scary, heavy or make you feel duty-bound.
Let your commitment be a process of directing energy that creates freedom.

It is truly important to remain conscious of the intention behind commitment.

When commitment is strong, struggle gives way to resolution.
The gift of this resolution is freedom.

True freedom.

In the end what matters most is,
How well did you live,
How well did you love,
How well did you learn to let go?
